Eid gift ideas in Bangladesh: handmade gifts for every budget

By JADUZ Editorial8 min read

Pair the salami with something that lasts. Under ৳1,000, think kantha-stitched purses, table mats or cushion covers, or a painted shokher hari; up to ৳5,000, a Nakshi Kantha wall hanging or bed sheet; above that, a kantha quilt, a fine jamdani sari or kansa tableware. Check each piece's delivery date against Eid.

What are good Eid gift ideas in Bangladesh?

Start with the custom you already know. Salami, also called Eidi, is the money elders give at Eid. The Dhaka Tribune described it in March 2026 as a symbolic gesture of affection and blessing, traditionally given by elders after the Eid prayer or during family visits, in crisp notes slipped into the hands of children and younger relatives. Wikipedia notes the same custom, eidiyah, is given on both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Salami suits children. A handmade gift suits everyone else: the parents who gave you salami for years, the in-laws whose house you visit on Eid day, the friend hosting the Eid lunch. Our handmade gift ideas guide covers every craft in depth; this page is about Eid. The Business Standard put it well in 2026: as children grow up, the same people who once waited for Eidi begin handing it out.

This guide sorts handmade gifts by budget, then by the person and the table. Prices below come from dated news reports, named with their year, because handmade prices move. For live prices, use the JADUZ gift finder.

What can you give under ৳500?

Small handmade pieces are the easiest way to give something to everyone in a large family without the cost running away.

  • Kantha-stitched purses and table mats. Prothom Alo found them at ৳300 to ৳350 at Kumudini in Dhaka in January 2026. A purse is a good gift for a teenage niece who has outgrown pure salami.
  • A small shokher hari. The Dhaka Tribune reported prices from ৳20 to ৳1,000 among Rajshahi's makers in 2025, so the smallest painted pots sit well inside this band. Banglapedia describes them as painted earthenware decorated with fish, birds and lotuses.
  • Hand-painted rickshaw-art pieces. The Business Standard's 2024 list of gifts for foreign friends included hand-painted rickshaw-art sunglasses at ৳450.

On JADUZ, the under ৳500 listing shows live pieces at this price. Small gifts in a set, such as one purse for each cousin, look generous and keep the budget simple.

What can you give under ৳1,000?

This band buys a gift that someone will use daily.

  • Kantha cushion covers. Prothom Alo found them under ৳600 at Karupally in January 2026. A pair refreshes a sitting room before Eid guests arrive.
  • A larger shokher hari. The top of the Dhaka Tribune's 2025 range reached ৳1,000. Fill it with sweets or semai and it becomes the gift and the wrapping at once.
  • Handmade jewellery. Light, personal and easy to hand over during visits. Live pieces and prices are in Jewellery.
  • Name-stitched small pieces. On JADUZ, made-to-order pieces can carry a name, a date or a message. Prices vary by maker. Order early; see the timing section below.

The under ৳1,000 listing shows what's live on JADUZ now. For a household rather than a person, a pair of cushion covers or a filled shokher hari works better than something personal, because the whole family shares it.

What can you give under ৳2,500?

This is where the gift becomes something for the home.

  • A kantha wall hanging. Kumudini's kantha wall mats ran from ৳700 to ৳2,200 in Prothom Alo's January 2026 report. A wall hanging suits in-laws or a newly married couple's first Eid.
  • A Shital Pati prayer mat. UNESCO notes that Shital Pati, woven from strips of a green cane called murta, is used across Bangladesh as a sitting mat, bedspread or prayer mat. A jaynamaz woven by hand is a thoughtful Eid gift for a parent or grandparent. We found no dated price for Shital Pati, so check live prices on the Shital Pati page.
  • Rickshaw-art tableware. The Business Standard reported in 2022 that rickshaw painters now decorate tea cups and trays. A painted tray carries tea to Eid guests all day. We found no dated price for these, so check live prices before you budget.

See the under ৳2,500 listing for live pieces. In this band, the gift that gets used on Eid day itself, a prayer mat or a tray, often means more than one put away for later.

What can you give for ৳2,500 and above?

At this level the gift is a keepsake, usually for parents, in-laws or a spouse.

  • A kantha bed sheet. Karupally's were ৳3,000 to ৳4,400 in Prothom Alo's January 2026 report.
  • A kantha-stitched sari. Kumudini's were ৳5,000 to ৳5,500 in the same report.
  • A full Nakshi Kantha. ৳8,100 to ৳14,000 at Kumudini and up to ৳20,000 at Madhobi Mart, per Prothom Alo in 2026. Our kantha price guide explains the difference.
  • A jamdani sari. In November 2024 Prothom Alo found Rupganj weavers selling 60 to 80-count handloom saris from ৳4,000, 80-count saris at Dhanmondi Hawkers Market at ৳8,000 to ৳17,000 and fine half-silk from ৳20,000 to ৳1,00,000. Read how to identify original jamdani before you buy, and see our jamdani price guide.
  • Kansa. Sold by weight; The Business Standard reported ৳3,500 to ৳5,500 a kilo in Islampur in 2020.

The under ৳5,000 listing shows live pieces up to that price.

What suits the Eid table?

Eid is a day of guests, so gifts for the table get used at once.

  • Kansa and brass. Bell metal, or kansa, is roughly four parts copper to one part tin, and Wikipedia notes that more tin makes it more rigid and more resonant. A kansa bowl for semai or a brass serving plate is a gift a host will bring out every Eid. See Brass & Bell Metal.
  • Shokher hari. Banglapedia notes these painted pots are used to carry gifts of fruit and sweets at weddings. The same idea works on Eid: arrive at a relative's home with sweets in a painted pot instead of a box. Browse Pottery & Terracotta.
  • Rickshaw-art cups and trays. Cheerful, sturdy and made for serving. See Rickshaw Art.
  • Shital Pati for guests. As a sitting mat, it gives extra seating when the whole family arrives.

Gifts for the table suit hosts best. If you are visiting someone on Eid day, a piece they can use while you're there is a gift and a compliment in one.

What should you give parents, in-laws and children?

Parents and grandparents. Something they will use on Eid itself or every day after it. A Shital Pati prayer mat, a kansa bowl, or a Nakshi Kantha for their bed. If they gave you salami for years, this is the gift that returns it.

In-laws. Something for their home rather than something personal, unless you know their taste well. A kantha wall hanging, a brass serving piece, or a jamdani for a mother-in-law who wears them. Choose the colour with your spouse.

Children. Salami first: The Business Standard's 2026 piece described children counting Eidi and spending some of it on toys, ice cream and fuchka. Add one small handmade thing they can keep after the money is spent, such as a painted shokher hari or a rickshaw-art box.

A spouse. The most personal budget of the year. A fine jamdani, a kantha with a date or a message stitched in, or a piece of handmade jewellery. On JADUZ, made-to-order pieces can carry a name, a date or a message; see Personalised Gifts.

How do salami and a gift work together?

They do different jobs. Salami is a blessing in cash, given by elders to younger relatives. The Dhaka Tribune described typical notes of ৳20, ৳50, ৳100 or more, and The Business Standard gave examples of one relative giving ৳100 and another ৳500. Both papers noted that some families now use mobile transfers alongside cash, and The Business Standard said these are often used by relatives in other cities or abroad.

A handmade gift does what money can't: it stays. It works best for the people who are past the age of receiving salami, and for the households you visit.

A simple rule many families can live with:

  • Children and younger relatives: salami, perhaps with a small handmade piece.
  • Parents, grandparents and in-laws: a handmade gift, chosen for them.
  • Hosts on Eid day: something for their table.

Keep the gift modest if the salami is generous, and the other way round. What matters is that each person gets something chosen for them.

When should you order for Eid?

Earlier than you think, because Eid dates are fixed by the moon, and handmade pieces may need making time. Forecasts published by Khaleej Times in 2026 for the UAE expected Ramadan 2027 to begin around 8 February and Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March, while noting that official dates depend on moon sighting. That forecast is for the UAE, so treat it as approximate for Bangladesh.

On JADUZ, every piece shows when it should arrive. Ready-to-ship pieces follow the usual delivery times on the delivery page. Made-to-order and personalised pieces add their making time, which each piece shows. Order those first.

Every order is cash on delivery anywhere in Bangladesh. If you send a gift to someone else's address, the person who receives it pays the courier, so tell them it's coming. If a piece arrives damaged, wrong or not as described, report it with photos within the claim window (returns) and JADUZ arranges a replacement or a refund, as the returns page explains. Leave enough days before Eid for that to happen.

What about Eid-ul-Adha?

The same gifts work, with more emphasis on hosting. The same Khaleej Times forecast expected Eid al-Adha 2027 around 16 or 17 May in the UAE, again subject to moon sighting, and Wikipedia notes that eidiyah is given on both Eids.

If you're hosting or visiting at Eid-ul-Adha, gifts for the kitchen and the floor come into their own:

  • Kansa or brass serving bowls for the host.
  • Shital Pati sitting mats for extra guests.
  • A shokher hari of sweets when you visit.

The budget ideas above apply to both Eids. Start with the gift finder, or browse the made-to-order pieces early if you want a name or a date stitched in.
